The story behind a photograph

 

This photograph was taken by me on Easter Island in February 2020. You can see Moto Nui, an islet at one end of the island. In the past, on this islet a ritual was performed to choose leaders, it is a competition where participants must swim to the islet, find the first egg of a bird called by them; Manutara, and finally they must return to the island. I find it impressive, as there are no beaches to get there, only cliffs.

This photo gives me a lot of peace, you can see an infinite and calm sea. At that time I still didn't know what it was like to live a pandemic and I had more freedoms. 

Also, there is something that makes this photo very special. You can see on the right a boat going in the opposite direction to the islet and when I see it, I wonder; what would it feel like to live like that?
